On October 22, an environmental event was held as part of the United Nations Week in Kutaisi. The event was organized by the Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads and Education Development and Employment Center with the support of the United Nations.
Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, Zviad Shalamberidze, State Representative to Imereti Region (TBC), Giorgi Chighvaria, Mayor of Kutaisi Municipality and Nino Tvaltvadze, Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi Municipalitytogether with young leaders took part in planting trees in Kutaisi Botanical Garden. Ms. Sabine Machl shared information about UN global goals and plans with the youth.
The event were officially opened with welcome speeches given by Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, Zviad Shalamberidze, State Representative to Imereti Region (TBC), Nino Tvaltvadze, Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi Municipality, Eka Laliashvii, Chair of the Board of Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads, Lika Kiladze, Chair of the Board of Education Development and Employment Center and Esma Gumberidze, Georgia’s Youth Representative to the United Nations.
The period of October 21 through 24 is dedicated to the United Nations Week whose main topic is Global Goals Generation. Within the United Nations Week different activities have been scheduled countrywide, including planting550 treesto enhance Tbilisi’s greenery.
